    Pre-requisites: Must be 16 years of age and have completed the pre-course work

    Level 3 Performance Development Coach is for those coaches who are ready to start specialising in event groups : Middle & Long Distance, Sprints Hurdles Relays, Jumps, Walks or Throws . It is for coaches working with athletes between 16 and 19 years of age (Training Stage II of the FIT Development) Model) who are competing at Regional, State or National level competitions.

    The course aims to empower coaches to design and lead effective training programs based on peer reviewed evidence and the knowledge and experience from leading Australian Coaches.  The focus of the course will be on planning and achieving long-term development of athlete performance, with an eye for establishing positive training habits that will prepare athletes for the elite pathway.  

    Day 1 : Self reflection, Goal Setting, Inclusive Coaching Principles, Personality and Coaching Communication

    Pre-Requisites: Level 2 Club Coach or higher and a minimum of 12 months coaching experience 

    Pre- Course Work:  Online Modules 3 Hours.  All participants are required to complete the following modules prior to attending the Level 3 Performance Development Coach Course: Level 1 & 2 Review Exam and Level 1 ASADA Education Course

    Teaching Hours: 32 Hours (4daysx8hours)

    Post Course Work: Reading: 10 Hours + Online Modules: 10 hours + Exam: 3 Hours

    Note: To be eligible for days 3 and 4, coaches must have attended and successfully completed Level 3 Performance Development Coach days 1 and 2 or attended day 1 & received RPL for Day 2

    IAAF Kids' Athletics Upskilling Course will give coaches the skills to deliver Athletics in the Sporting Schools Program 

    To deliver athletics in Sporting Schools please ensure you have following requirements:  

    Coaches:

    • Be aged 16 years or over
    • hold a current Working With Children Check
    • Confirm adequacy of insurance
    • Primary School Program:
    • Level 1 Community Athletics Coaching Course or above
    • IAAF Kids Athletics Up-skilling course after completion of Level 1 or above coaching education course
    • Secondary School Program:
    • Level 1 Community Athletics Coach or above
    • Active Aths Upskilling course (available when allocated a secondary school coaching position)

    Teachers:

    • Registered teachers can deliver IAAF Kids' Athletics and Active Aths in Sporting Schools by meeting the following requirements: 
    • Hold a valid State and/or Territory teacher registration'Confirm adequacy of insurance
    • IAAF Kids' Athletics Upskilling Course
    • Secondary School Program:
    • Active Aths Upskilling course

    Duration: 16 hours over two (2) days

    Pre-requisites for this course:

    Successfully completed Level 1 Community Athletic Coaching Course or Level 1 Run Leader

    The Level 2 Club Coach Course is the next progression from Level 1 Community Athletics Coach and further develops the coaches understanding of how to coach fundamental skills and move toward event specific skills and drills.  This level teaches coaches the basic technical models of Track and Field events held at club and school competitions (Training 1 Phase of the FIT Development Model).  Additional topics include: training principles, components of fitness and the preparation and evaluation of training sessions suitable for intermediate level athletes.

    Course Curriculum:  Developing the skills of coaching, Analysis and Evaluation, Warm Ups and Recovery, Conditioning and Circuit Training, 100m and 200m, 400m, Block Starts, 800m and 1500m, Sprint Hurdles, Intermediate Hurdles, Relays, Training Principles and Components of Fitness, Biomotor Abilities, Coaching Long Distance, Shot Put, Javelin and Discus, Long Jump and Triple Jump, High Jump, Race Walking

    Pre-course work:

    All participants are required to complete the following modules prior to attending :

    • Community Coaching General Principles (if not completed previously)
    • Play by the Rules - Child Protection (if not completed previously)
    • Level 2 Pre-Course Modules (My Pathway, Terminology and Sessions, Principles of Training)
    • STAR Event-Specific Coaching Resources

    Post-course work:

    • Race walking review
    • Planning & progression Assignment
    • Practical Assessment Tool (observed coaching)

    This course is an entry level course of Athletics Australia’s Coach Accreditation Framework.  The course focuses on developing the coach's human management skills and understanding physical literacy and how it can be improved based on the 'Teaching Games for Understanding' model of sports development.  

    This course instructs coaches how to follow the Teaching Games for Understanding model, especially its athlete-centred pedagogy, and introduces the most critical components of developing physical literacy in beginning athletes to prepare them for future Track and Field success, which must be understood before event-specific coaching can be developed.  

    Pre-requisites: Must be 16 years of age and have completed the pre-course work

    Pre-course work : Online modules: 4 hours  Reading: 2 hours

    Teaching Hours: 8 hours (delivered over one full day or two evenings)

    Post course work: Reading: 6 hours+  Online Modules: 1 hour  Assignment: 1 hour
